Why is an insulin pump used?

Diabetes is a medical condition that occurs due to an erratic metabolic activity. The food that we eat is used to derive energy after it has undergone the process of digestion in the body. The glucose that is produced during digestion is used by the cells to derive energy for growth. This process requires the presence of a hormone called insulin which is produced by the pancreas. In individuals suffering from diabetes, the pancreas produces little or no insulin hampering the entire body function, especially digestion and energy production.
